About Us

New Concord Presbyterian Church was organized in 1835 and has a rich history of serving the Living God and ministering to the needs of the community.  The church property is located on 47 acres of land in a beautiful setting in Campbell County fourteen miles Southeast of Lynchburg, Virginia. It is surrounded by trees and consists of the church, picnic pavilion, playground, Parish House, manse, cemetery, memorial gardens, and softball field.

Our members are involved in Sunday morning worship, Sunday School, choir, Presbyterian Women, special music programs and children’s programs. Some of the activities that our members look forward to each year are: Camp Hat Creek outings, other family camping events, Vacation Bible School, children’s Christmas programs, Holy Week and other seasonal services with churches in the community, Easter Sunrise Service, Easter Egg Hunt, Christmas Caroling and delivering baskets to shut-ins. We also sponsor visiting music groups and gospel singing programs, host missionary speakers and other special speakers, and have Bible studies.  We enjoy fellowship together and frequently include covered dish meals with our special services and programs.

We believe that being a church in a secular society is one of the greatest challenges of today. The forces at work in society draw us away from our church commitment and involvement.

As a congregation we maintain the following tenants to be fundamental: God is the creator of the universe, Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior was the incarnation of God on earth, the Bible is the inspired Word of God, Christ was crucified and died for our sins so that we might obtain forgiveness, and God is present with us through the Holy Spirit. Our Christian life is nurtured by worship, prayer, and education and by the sacraments of the Lord’s Supper and baptism.
